Naturally the answer has to be yes! I mean who wouldn’t want fabulous hair? So what is the secret to fabulous hair? Lush, shiny, thick and bouncy hair. The kind of hair that stops people in their tracks and makes them take a second glance.
It is Wellness Wednesday! Already? Yes, the week has flown. Last week I asked you to join me in exercising a little everyday for the entire week. How did you go? I have to say it was heaps more fun than I thought it would be, but I’ll get back to you on that shortly, first I am going to talk about the prompt I have chosen this week and that is . . . .

This is a picture of my hair
OK you got me! This is so not my hair! This is the hair I covet.
When it comes to hair I think I missed the line up for the ‘fabulous hair gene‘. I got a cute nose, big eyes and some other awesome qualities, but fabulous hair, not so much. My dad has gorgeous thick hair as do my brothers, but the girls in my family got the fine hair. But don’t fret, you can still work with what you have ladies. We may not be able to end up like Miss Fabulous Hair Lady in this picture, but we can certainly make the most of what we were already blessed with. In my case I was blessed with wavy hair, the kind that if you brush it it looks even worse. Yep not so fabulous!
The amazing thing is that we live in an era of great hair products! And great hair styles. Gone are the days where the BIG hair is in fashion or the perm! Now it’s all about shine and bounce. Here are some popular hair styles right now.
OK I know what you’re thinking, that these women just paid their hair stylists hundreds of dollars to get this look! And you’d be right, and let’s face it we don’t all have that kind of cash to throw away on our hair. (OK yes that is me in the middle.) So here is the good and the bad news. Here’s the bad first, having fabulous hair (that you weren’t born with) does require some time, effort and money, (and still no matter how hard I try my hair will not grow any thicker). Good news is great hair is achievable and it doesn’t have to break the bank.
My first secret.
My biggest love is a good shampoo! And I mean a good one. I have a couple of favourites, firstly is Aesop! I love there Classic Shampoo it’s mild, and great for everyday use for all hair types. What I love is that although it is pricier than buying supermarket Shampoo you actually use a lot less. When I first started using it I thought I had to use lots, and wondered why it wasn’t all nice and frothy like my previous shampoo. The I discovered that it was the ‘bad’ things in the cheaper shampoo that cause it to froth up. My other favourite thing about Aesop products is their smell. They smell so beautiful and you can save money on perfume too. They also have other great shampoo options like the Equalising Shampoo which is gentle and helps with itchy scalps, or the Colour Protection Shampoo which is free of sulphate. I also love the Voluminous Shampoo which lends body to fine or flat hair.
My other favourite shampoo is Kiehl’s. The Olive fruit oil nourishing shampoo is lovely, with avocado oil, lemon and olive fruit oil. It leaves my hair really soft, with no fly a ways, yet it doesn’t weigh it down.
My second secret.
A must have is an amazing conditioner. With wavy hair I spent years smothering conditioner into my hair to prevent fly a ways. Now I use a tiny drop, comb it through with my hands and it is smooth and manageable. How? By using a quality conditioner.
Again Aesop and Kiehl’s are my top picks, but to change it up I will also recommend crabtree and evelyn. There hair care products smell great and leave my hair feeling lovely.
My third secret.
When using a quality shampoo and conditioner I am less likely to need any other hair products, as my hair is looking great. If however I find the odd fly a way, or if I am using a heat product on my hair for styling then I go with Kiehl’s Stylist series, Heat-Protective Silk Straightening Cream. It leaves my hair so light and vibrant without weighing it down. Aesop also have some great hair treatments like their Rose Hair and Scalp Moisturising Masque, and if you suffer from flaky hair their Sage and Cedar scalp treatment really helps. They have other great products for hair too.
My fourth secret.
My straightener. I use the ghd. It is amazing. It works so quickly and leaves my hair really smooth. It is also what I used in the above photo of myself to create a messy look. For straight hair I just smooth it down from top to bottom in sections. For a messy, or slightly wavy look just twist back and forth as you do each section. Trust me if I can do it anyone can.
My fifth secret.
An easy way to give yourself one of the most popular looks this season is with a Rusk.
I have the one with the built in steaming option as it curls quicker, better, holds the curls longer and protects your hair. Both my daughters have long hair so it is great to have something that doesn’t take all my time before heading to an event. It works for both full curls or brush them through for a looser curl or messy look.
My final secret.
Be natural. Yes after all those styling tips I am going with be natural. Why? Because some days we need to let our hair down. There is nothing more frustrating than a woman who wont be herself. When you see a woman sitting by the pool with a grumpy face because she doesn’t want her perfect hair style to get splashed, it is really a BAD look. If you are at the beach you don’t need perfect hair, you need to have FUN! Going for a work out, well pull it back in to a cute ponytail and smile. If you are really worried about how your hair looks when you get out of pool then wear a cute hat!
It is lovely having a good hair day, but some days we need to let it loose and just remember to have fun, as their is no cuter you, than you wearing your smile.

So what hair styles are trending in 2015?
Long hair is back. The advice is to start growing out your bobs ladies. Whether it is pulled back, sleek or messy, long hair is in this year. Bangs or firnges are also trending. Wear your bangs to the side, a thick straight look or a little shaggy. Here are some very cool bangs.

Here is my gorgeous girl with her trending bangs.
Now as promised, last week I committed to exercising everyday for a week. It was lots of fun, except for when my puppy peed on my yoga mat! Although I didn’t push myself hard, it was nice to exercise everyday and it made me smile. I enjoyed doing my arm weights even though they were only 2 kilograms. Walking outside and enjoying nature was also a favourite! If you didn’t read last weeks post here is a link. My Fitness Wish List. I would love to hear your comments on exercise and your secret to great hair below in my comments section. Or you can message me on Facebook, Twitter @MacGlanville or @Fridayreflect and see what I’m posting on Instagram.

Yes yes yes! But I suspect I might soon be in the market for a lovely wig! 🙂 Which one of these photos is you?
Your angel/Princess looks lovely! ♥ I had bangs until grade 6 and then let it grow out!
I am the one with the very dark hair in the middle of the 5 photo’s near the top. The rest are models lol. Thank you for coming by and commenting, means so much and congratulations again on your beautiful post you linked up with us. I am so sorry about tour friend. Much love xx And yes my little girl is very precious to me.
Can’t go past the GHD!!! Although Ive been curious about those curling devices. Every time I use my curler I burn myself. Im so uncoordinated! I do have hot rollers…but Im so lazy they only come out for special occasions 🙂 Im glad Im on trend. Ive been growing my hair again! Its very au natural at the moment. Loving your daughters hair by the way. Stunning!
Trust me you can’t be more uncoordinated than me, the rusk is great, I had a free demo at hair house warehouse, they showed me how to use it. I’m getting the knack lol. Thanks for commenting, always makes my day xx
Ooooh those hair! I want some of them too lol. Thank you for sharing this. I just discovered a brand new and cheap secret to tame my curls: virgin coconut oil. I would just spray my damp hair with a little spritz of coconut oil and let it dry naturally or I go to sleep after my hair dries (sometimes I wash my hair at night) and I will wake up with smooth soft curls and hair which I totally love. This is brand new as in only less than a month discovery so I haven’t blog about it yet 😀
Thank you for linking up, Mac! Love your post as always!
sounds like something worth trying, thanks xx
