Children have this way of seeing the world that is so much richer than most adults do. We are taught as children about the five senses, and so we knew as children to believe in things we could see, taste, touch etc. And yet children see so much more than we do as adults. As a child I had a vivid imagination as many children do. It was easy to believe in fairies and I am sure I saw Santa in the night sky once when I was little. Of course the adults would tell us we were imagining things and so we begin to doubt ourselves, we grow up and out of silly fantasises.
Children are encouraged to use their imagination, adults are encouraged to use common sense and look for concrete evidence. We see play as silly and childish (unless of course we are in fact playing with a child). You see a child talking to themselves and you think how adorable they are using their imagination, we see an adult do the same thing and we think we may need to book them in for some therapy.
Personally I think we could all get in touch with our inner child a little more often. We are told over and over as we grow up to ‘think’ to ‘use our head’, but at what cost? We forget how to play, to have fun, to use our imagination, to wonder and to dream. We forget how to listen to our inner voice and how to believe in the wonders of life.
Being around children reminds us, it gives us a sense of the spark we lost, or left behind when we were told to ‘grow up’. Yes it is true we have responsibilities now, bills to pay, and other adult expectations, but I encourage you to tap into your inner chid, to remember him or her, to remind yourself to play. I encourage you to listen not just to your head, but to that little voice (your child self), and believe that anything is once again possible if your just wish hard enough.

Yeah, they do see the magic, don’t they? #ABloggingGoodTime
I remember fishing with a stick like that as a child 🙂 #Ablogginggoodtime
You are so right. I think we’d all achieve so much more if we did this. Gorgeous photos too #ablogginggoodtime
Love this! I think that’s what I love so much about making occasions such as Easter and Christmas magical for the boys. It gives me an opportunity to use my inner child.
