“…Then another porpoise broke the water and rolled toward us. A third and fourth porpoise neared. The visitation was something so rare and perfect that we knew by instinct not to speak—and then as quickly as they had come, the porpoises moved away from us…Each of us would remember that all during our lives. It was the purest moment of freedom and headlong exhilaration that I had ever felt. A wordless covenant was set, and I would go back in my imagination, and return to where happiness seemed so easy to touch.”
Pat Conroy. From His Novel titled ‘Beach Music’
I adore this quote, for me it is the last sentence that is so special, as a writer I use my imagination when I write my novels, so to me the gift of having an imagination is such a huge part of my happiness. I love watching my children use their imagination too when they play with toys, when they write little stories, or create art work. Imagination is magical.
When I sat on the beach this weekend I felt such a sense of peace. For me the sound of the waves, the way the wind carries salt air from the waves over the sand, and the sunlight glistening on the water evokes such a sense of creativity in me. For me the beach is such a beautiful place to be, and what I love about the last sentence in the above quote by Pat Conroy is that with imagination I can be back on that beautiful beach with my family any time, and that is pretty cool.
Of course my favourite part of being on the beach this weekend was my family, including this little guy.
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx

Congrats on being picked by Aby and well deserved! I loved this photo! imagination has always been important to me. An escape from the world. I think that is why I found it so difficult when my son could not play imaginatively because of his autism. I can’t even contemplate a world without imagination it brings such freedom, yet he inhabits one. #DreamTeam
That is so hard Catie, yes I too can not imagine a world without one xx
Amazing photo, and congrats on being picked – it is definitely well deserved. I also love your quote. We sometimes forget to just enjoy the moments of pure happiness. #candidcuddles

This looks truly wonderful! I love the 5th image down, the angle makes the sky look very dramatic, I like that a lot. #pointshoot
oh thank you, yes I do love the sky in that one too xx
Lovely photos of your little boy! I love watching my ids as they make up stories with their toys. My 2yo has just started making her toys speak to each other and it’s sooo cute! You can also find out all kinds of things that they’ll tell their toys that they won’t tell you! #DreamTeam
haha so true, I always loved listening to Aspen play with her barbie dolls because it gives good insight to what is happening at school xx

Couldn’t agree more imagination is so important in everything we do. #familyfun
Fantastic quote. I love watching my kids using their imagination, it’s something that a lot of us lose as we become adults and I’m determined to keep it alive in my two, while also exercising my own. Congrats on the feature, that picture certainly gets my imagination in gear x

Oh thank you, yes I agree imagination is just so wonderful x
I love the quotation and some of your photos are stunning! You’re right that imagination is an important thing. I am always off in a dream world. But since having my daughter I’ve really loved watching such pure and innocent imagination at work. Even when we sit and draw and colour random shapes and pictures, it just takes you out of things! #FamilyFun
it really does, I think watching my children playing is such a gift xx

Congratulations! Oh, these photos are so lovely. What a talent.
Ooooh I didn’t know you live by the sea like me! Funnily enough during a visit he made to see us in Malta, my brother (a singer, songwriter, music producer) was so struck by the beach I took him to and remarked on what a gift it was for me to be living somewhere with landscape that helped encourage creativity. So I hear you! Thanks for sharing your fab images on #candidcuddles
I agree, being on the beach makes you feel so peaceful. The sea and fresh air actually makes you forget anything negative x #FamilyFun
