It’s the end of school holidays here, so the question is are we, or should we be celebrating, or should we be wishing we at least had one more week with our kids at home? This last week we have had the most fabulous Springtime weather, in fact the whole holidays have been glorious, the type of weather where the outdoors just calls you to come and be part of it. Gardens are filling with flowers, bulbs planted in autumn are now coming to life, opening up to greet the blue skies. The children have enjoyed visits with friends, swimming in their friends pool, riding bikes (Adam’s birthday present), going to the local water park, picnics on the lawn, and whilst hosing the garden the’ve enjoyed hosing themselves, the dogs and me as well. Aspen’s allergies are playing up a little, but not too much that she can’t enjoy the beauty that Spring has brought to Melbourne.
How could I wish them back to school when the days have been filled with so much happiness? I can’t, and that might just have to do with the fact that I have been enjoying my sleep ins just a little too much! I am seriously dreading getting out of bed tomorrow morning and because of daylight savings starting today it means it will feel even earlier to our bodies when we get out of bed tomorrow! If you didn’t know then you have probably figured out that I am a night owl and not a morning person (though I wish I was). I really don’t know why they don’t start daylight savings at the beginning of school holidays to give us all a chance to get used to the change.
On the bright side, it’s great to see the kids back at school, learning and taking everything in like little sponges. This term will see my son’s first ever school concert performance as well as the dress up day parade which is always super cute. I am lucky that they all love learning and they enjoy being with their friends. I also look forward to coffee mornings with the mums. 9 weeks and it will be the end of year holidays! I am sure it will fly by!
What about you, did you enjoy the school holidays? What has your family been up to lately? Comment below, or link up if you are a blogger too. I love to hear from everyone.

Oh I used to hate the girls going back to school after the holidays, I missed them so much. Ah your spring sounds so much better than our summer hehe!! I hope Aspen’s allergies don’t bother her too much xx
I know I miss them, thanks for stopping by xx
It’s the start of the fall season here, and we’ve been enjoying the gorgeous leaves and eating pumpkin and apple foods! School started four weeks ago. I remember dreading going back, but then school quickly becomes the norm, and like you said, the holidays come around again before you know it, and the kids get a nice break. On another note-I think that someone (whoever’s in charge of the world, perhaps?) should cancel daylight savings time altogether!! It would make things so much easier for everyone! Lol! Thank you for hosting this fabulous linky, Mac! I love #Mummyandus!
What a lovely thing for you to say, I feel so honoured that you link up, it means a lot! Your Fall season sounds lovely too
I’m lucky over here in Perth we’ve still got a week of the holidays left! Yay!! I love spending time with the boys, although this holiday they have been so social that I’ve been home alone for some of it! But it’s good to have together time & alone time, then I get to blog a bit more often 🙂
One more week of holidays lucky you! It is great to have time together and alone I agree xx
The Autumn has landed here. It’s cold, dark & rainy. We had so much fun over the summer holidays that it was really hard to get used to back to school. We went away last weekend & had so much fun, my post today is about our lovely hotel stay. Having something to look forward to was a big help. Thanks so much for hosting #mummyandus x
Can’t wait to read about your stay! We head away for a weekend soon can’t wait
I love autumn despite the cold but it is so hard to get up early for the gym/work in the dark! You do sound like a nightowl. Lots of lovely things to look forward to though. That parade will be fab xx Thanks for hosting x #mummyandus
I always find it hard to get back into school mode after they’ve had a break. And hooray for Spring! Autumn is settling in around here…. colder, darker days ahead.
i love the holidays with my boys and always feel sad when they go back. but I also love having my own time and being more than their mum, once they are back at school. I am lucky that I find upsides in both directions. Here we are having the last of our sun, so I am slightly jealous for your weather. Kirsten
Beautiful post MG! Good luck with the first day!
Oh I’m definitely with you on that one. I too consider myself and my hubby to be night owls. My daughter is just getting used to that realisation lol. I think it would be a great idea if daylight savings kicked in at the same time as school but life is there to test us. I find it strange you talk about Spring when here in the UK it is positively Autumn. #Mummyandus
It’s already Autumn here and it’s getting darker in the mornings and colder too… I love spring when the beautiful flowers starts to bloom. We enjoyed the summer school holidays though, so much fun when it’s warmer and days are longer. #mummyandus
Hi, just discovered your blog, you write beautifully. I never like it when my children go back to school – the summer ends too fast, and years pass by in a blink at the moment. Autumn is in full swing here and it’s raining this week. Sarah #WhateverTheWeather
Thanks for hosting. Have a great week.
My boys are too young for school, but I can imagine how much I would miss them when they were at school. It’s so much fun in the holidays, with everything there is to do! Lovely that your kids are happy at school with their friends and learning though.
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x
Lovely post and great that you have enjoyed the holidays. Always sad when they go back. Thanks for sharing on #justanotherlinky xx
I love spring, it’s such a beautiful season. I think i’d miss my daughter terribly if she went to school. I’d always be so excited for the summer holidays. I’m dreading her turning 4/5 and having to go. This is such a lovely post. I’m so glad you had a great summer. Thank you so much for sharing this on #whatevertheweather x
I forgot to link up! My apologies and I’ll see you next week. I love spring, but we’ve just entering Autumn and Winter here. 🙂
