If it is breathtaking beaches of white sands that stretch as far as the eye can see, unspoiled world heritage national parks, walking trails, boating, fishing, surfing, fresh seafood, local world class wines, delicious cheese and fruits, and handmade chocolates then the Seven Mile Beach region is the place you are looking for. If you want luxury, generous accommodation with a tennis court, swimming pool, gymnasium, games room, playground, an onsite restaurant that serves fresh and delicious food, and access to a breathtaking beach then the Wyndham Vacation Resorts at Seven Mile Beach is the place for you. (Only 20 minutes from the heart of Hobart, and only a 7 minute drive from Hobart International airport),
From the minute I entered the reception area of the resort I knew we were somewhere special. The staff are lovely and so helpful, but the true wow moment was when we walked through the door and into our apartment! The rooms are beautiful and so spacious, it is like a luxury home away from home. After a long day of travel and sightseeing it was so wonderful to walk into a place where we all felt instantly relaxed. I couldn’t resist popping on my fluffy robe and comfy slippers and just enjoying a lovely percolated coffee out on the beautiful balcony where I could lay back and soak up the lovely summertime Tasmanian weather, ahh bliss! I think I could get used to this!
The kids were super excited by the gorgeous bedrooms and like all kids they loved the stairs! My son was also excited to find a bathtub and so was I. The kitchen is fully equipped,
and as a mum of 3 I appreciated finding a laundry with a washer, a dryer and even a supply of eco friendly washing powder! It really can be the small things that make the difference.
Although I was reluctant to shed my robe, we decided to take a walk around the beautiful grounds, there is plenty of native animals that call the grounds home, like birds, wallabies, echidnas and endangered bandicoots. The gardens are incredible as the resort has its own horticulturist, and the flora is just lovely.
The Master bedroom with an ensuite attached
Aspen enjoyed having a queen bed to herself, although she did fill it with her Teddy Bears.
April and Adam shared, and again this was taken before the invasion of their Teddies.
The upstairs had a generous and luxury open plan living design.
The kids were thrilled to find a playground and Adam thought he was in Heaven when he saw the chess set! There is even a outdoor snakes and ladders game which we had great fun playing. Then they discovered the pool and spa and they knew they never wanted to leave!
We headed to the gorgeous Beaches Restaurant (onsite) for dinner. The food is made with delicious fresh produce, I enjoyed the Bruny Island oysters tempura with honey and soy sesame sauce and I had the pan fried Huon Valley Atlantic Salmon with handmade parmesan gnocchi, garden peas, house dried tomato, lemon and baby herbs for my main. Steven enjoyed a Longford Tasmanian steak on a confit potato fondant, dutch carrots, celeriac puree, asparagus and jus, with a lovely glass of local Tasmanian red wine. The kids loved their meals which were really reasonably priced too. The best thing about the restaurant though was the ambience, they had a very talented musician singing and playing the acoustic guitar, it was lovely.
There is so much you can do around the area, if you can tear yourself away from the resort. It would be so easy to stay here for an entire week or two and never leave. But if you are looking for adventure there are scenic flights, surfing, fishing, thrilling jet boat rides, walks, mountain climbs, golf, water cruises, and of course plenty of sight seeing tours.
There is of course so much to do in Hobart, the Teddy bear Shop was a huge hit with the kids, it really is an amazing store, and if you are like me and love a good book then you can’t go past Fullers Bookshop and cafe, of course I had to buy a book, I restrained myself with one written by a Tasmanian girl, but I may head back again tomorrow.
The Botanic gardens in Hobart is the 2nd oldest Botanical Gardens in Australia. I wasn’t too sure it would be my thing, but wow I was impressed! It is stunning, the gardens, giftshop and restaurant are fantastic and you may think the kids would be bored, but no they loved it. All 3 of them took loads of photographs and so did their father and I. It is well worth a look, my advice pack a picnic, they have such lovely grounds.
If it is amazing views you want then Mount Wellington is somewhere you have to put on that ever increasing bucket list of yours. The pinnacle is over 1200 metres (4000 feet) high! It boasts breathtaking views of the ocean, Hobart, and mountains. Make sure you pack the kids some sweets to suck on the way up and down for their ears as it is very high. Also pack a jacket as it gets cold up there. It really is a must see, photos can never do it justice.
I have really come to think Tasmania is so overlooked, this place is overwhelmingly beautiful and the locals are so friendly and welcoming, it is truly going to be hard to leave.
So whether you are a local looking for a great spot to relax on holiday, or like me from another state of Australia and are wanting a beautiful place to base yourself and explore all Tasmania has to offer, or perhaps you are coming from overseas and flying into Hobart International Airport then I can not recommend this resort enough. It truly has everything you could think of and more, with a touch of class, luxury, relaxation and fun.
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx
Stay tuned as tomorrow we head to Salamanca Market, don’t forget to keep checking back to see what else we get up to in Tassie.

Oh my that does look beautiful. The mountain shots are stunning and if that isn’t doing the view justice, then it must be really something. It has brightened up my miserable Monday morning xx
