It really is not easy being on camera, it is funny how it brings out my insecurities. But there are times in life you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. So this week I decided for my Friday Reflections link up I would take the challenge of filming myself and telling you a bit about me in 90 seconds. To be honest I just grabbed my phone and filmed and then I watched it and totally cringed. But you know what? I have decided to go ahead and share it here anyway (feel free to not watch it, no seriously you can just pretend you never saw this post).
So I am no expert when it comes to making films of myself,
- Correct Lighting? Fail
- Good camera? Fail.
- Great sound? Fail.
- A team of beauticians and hairdressers? Fail.
- Couture Clothing? Fail.
- Me just being me? Success!!
For those of you that watched, thanks, for those of you that didn’t thanks!
Seriously though, we need to get out of our comfort zones now and then and try new things, embrace who we are. Quirks and all. Show the world who you are, you will be surprised how many people feel like you and have the same insecurities as you. We often hide our flaws, but sometimes what we see as flaws others see as something beautiful in us. Be real, be you and live authentically.
Check out the prompts below and see if you would like to link up.
Thanks for joining me, love Mac xx

Oh that’s not bad.. I wouldn’t have been able to do even that. I look weird on camera and I don’t really like my voice too.. Writing and hiding behind words that need to be read is what I’m good at 🙂
oh thank you xx
you did wonderfully!! No stumbling or mumbling and you looked great. I am in awe after the ordeal of trying to get ONE DECENT profile pic for my blog last week – nothing screams insecurity like having a photo taken 🙂 It will be a while before I tackle anything that personal again!
We are always so hard on ourselves, too hard! Thanks Leanne xx
I thought your video was WONDERFUL! This is my first time participating and I will be back. (You’ve been warned.) 🙂 – I’m not to the point of putting up a video just yet but maybe one day, sooner rather than later.
Fantastic, so glad you have joined us!!! Look forward to knowing you better xx
You did a good job! I am shy in front of video camera but you are right about pushing our comfort zone. It’s not easy but always the right thing to do.
oh thank you so much!
Great first video, Mackenzie! I want to do this, but can somehow manage to come up with an excuse every time — imagine that! I watched yours this morning, and was going to tackle my own today despite having the flu, but alas, the flu won. See, I can always find a reason to avoid the video camera! 😉
One day just pick it up and go for it, you can do it!
You were great Mackenzie! I think we all have a lower opinion of our performances than what they really are. I loved hearing your voice and I don’t know how you spoke for that long without a script! I loved learning more about you. I might take your challenge up – we will see!!! #FridayReflections.
haha thanks Sue I am a bit of chatterbox. I would love to see you on video xx
Beautiful words. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And when we feel beautiful, then we are truly beautiful. 🙂
very true!
You are great. Its nice to finally see who you really are. I am getting a video challenge put together. Would you be interested in joining?
let me know when you have it organised sounds interesting!
Mac, I have to take time to tell you my observations about your post.
1. We never see ourselves as others see us. So take a deep breath and realize that I see you as a beautiful woman, who loves life.
2. Seeing the real you is so much better than a fake you, so thank you!
3. It does take us out of our comfort zone to post a video. And I admire you for taking that big step forward.
Last but not least, I loved watching you on video. We are all so different, so unique, and I celebrate your vibrant youth and enthusiasm. I could feel it in every word you spoke.
So, thank you again. 🙂
oh thank you Cathy, you make me cry, what a beautiful comment xx
Congrats for this first video!
For me is a bit strange to see myself in this situation…I know that I always laugh of my voice when I hear it on recorded movies on phone…lol. 🙂
I know our voices always sound so different, thanks for stopping by xx
I have a candle sitting on my desk at work that reads “LIfe Begins Outside of Your Comfort Zone” because I truly believe it does. It’s so easy to be complacent and not try anything new out of fear. That complacency leads to stagnation which inhibits growth. On a personal note, I know that the times I have learned the most about myself were those times in which I was forced outside of my comfort zone. I believe outside of the comfort zone is where the magic happens. Have a good one!
