WARNING, no boys allowed, this is girl talk time!

Hey ladies, I said HEY LADIES we rock! Seriously we are pretty bloody awesome!!!! Think about the crap we’ve been putting up with since the beginning of time, like cave men hitting us over the head and dragging us into caves, what the?!

In China women were having their feet bound so that they grew only about 4 inches long, until 1912 when the Chinese government ordered it to stop, ouch! Women rights to vote, have a career, leave abusive partners and much more are all things that women before us have fought hard for, thanks ladies.

But today I am talking about other stuff we have had to put up with since we hit say age 10, like “OMG my body’s changing before I am even ready!” I get this happens to boys too, but for us it’s trickier. Boys don’t have to worry about a few hairs appearing under their armpits do they! By 14 we have these bumps on our chest that even old men are staring at, gross! And our unwanted hairs that are on our legs and in our armpits are getting darker, so then we begin the annoying regular shave, accompanied by shaving cuts, or the painful waxing, and tweezering that doesn’t just end after a year or two, no it’s a lifelong commitment!

And then there’s the dreaded period! OK I get that we are blessed to get this because it means we will hopefully one day be able to have beautiful babies and obviously I would do anything to have my children, but do we really need to get it whilst in high school? Haven’t young girls got enough to deal with, (like immature boys annoying them). Yes in the old days we only lived to 40 or so years old, and we had babies at age 14, but come on evolution us modern women don’t need our periods until we are out of high school. And do we really need it every month for up to 7 days. To top it off why does it need to be painful? I don’t get that at all, what is the point to the cramps and the feeling of someone twisting a knife into our uterus, or the pain in our boobs, really why? Let’s not forget the emotional outbursts either, the bad, grumpy moods, or if you are like me it’s being over emotional, crying for no reason, or just being so darn tired. And why we are on the whining train can I add in grey hairs, we could use another 20 years of our natural colour too please mother nature!

So yes we have put up with men thinking they are so damn superior for so long, and even though we are closer to equality than ever, we are still often earning less or being passed over for promotions, and to top it off we have the extra expense of buying tampons!

And that’s not all, we have to pay out more money for waxing, hair colouring, nail polish, jewellery, handbags, clothing and shoes, and before you even think of saying we don’t have to buy these things . . . let me stop you, because we do, we are expected to look well groomed and well dressed because society demands it. (Ridiculous I know, but you know it’s true, even if ultimately it is our choice, well except for female hygiene products there’s no choice in that!)

As women we have put up with a lot, on a 28 day basis, but despite all the crap thrown our way we stand strong, we laugh, we cry, we hug each other, share wine along with our life stories and eat chocolate, (way too much, hehe). We put up with stomach cramps whilst still being awesome at our jobs, or carrying a crying child on our hip, we give birth and go back for more, yep we rock! I am proud to be a woman, I am proud to be a friend, a sister, a daughter, a mother, I am an everyday chick, as are you, and we rock!
