Whether you are a fan of books or a fan of movies, you have most likely heard of “Me Before You!” If you haven’t then you are about to.
“Me Before You” is a fab book which was first published in 2012, my book club group quickly snapped it up and absolutely loved it. It is written by author Jojo Moyes, and has now been followed by a sequel book called “After You” which I have also read.
I must say for me the original book was my favourite. There are some elements of the book that I found difficult and upsetting, but I think a book that can make me laugh out loud, cry to the point of having to put the book down until I felt brave enough to continue, and a book that forced me to really think about how I feel about certain issues, then I say that is a great book!
If you haven’t read it I highly recommend it.
A couple of weeks ago I finally got the opportunity to see the film with some awesome women! YAY!
I decided to put together a Vlog together so that I could capture how I felt about the film. It has taken me a couple of weeks to get around to publishing it sorry, but here it is. Enjoy.
We rated the film that night, and between us it averaged an 8, so that is pretty awesome. Like I said the film made me cry, it made me laugh, and it totally made me want to go shoe shopping! Seriously someone take the credit card off me!
Trust me watch this preview and you will be compelled to see it!
But here are my WARNINGS,
- go out after and do something fun, you will need cheering up!
- watch it with some awesome friends
- pack tissues
- you will want to buy shoes after seeing this
- buy movie snacks, (when I felt like crying I would shove extra popcorn in my mouth to distract myself)
- OK the popcorn didn’t work I still cried
Have you seen the movie, or read the book?
If not, please do!
If you have seen the movie or read the book then please share with me what you thought.

I have read the book and seen the movie. Although the movie wasn’t nearly as good as the book, I still felt that the movie did a good job at conveying the spirit of the book. I mean, let’s be real, the film makers could not cram every little detail of the book into a 2 hour movie. Overall, I was very pleased with the movie adaptation.
I haven’t read After You and I’m not sure if I will. I am okay with how Me Before You ended. I’m not sure if I want to know what happens next.
Have a good one!
yes I felt a bit the same, not sure i wanted to read After You but then I couldn’t help myself
I’m sure I read the book but it was a while ago so my memory is not that great. I love these sort of movies and it is certainly a good one to see with girlfriends! I cry at Mary Poppins leaving the Banks children so I would definitely need a box or two of tissue for this one. Thanks for the review it is on my list. xx
Yes you sound like me, I always cry easily at movies and this one you will for sure
I hadn’t heard of it but I’d really like to read the book that’s for sure. I don’t read often enough so I’ll put this on my list, thanks for the recommendation:)
I read the book a few years back and I loved it!! I cried my heart out. So lovely and for me unexpected. I managed to see the film this week and I really enjoyed it. Not a good as the book but still really enjoyable – I though the main actress was brilliant just what I imagined her to be like. #sharingthebloglove
I read the book and was really interested to hear they were making a film of it! I’ll probably wait until it comes out on DVD / Netflix – I was once asked to leave the cinema during a sad film as I was crying so loudly! Love the idea of a girly night out after though – your thai food has got me salivating! Thanks so much for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
I loved the book and cried when reading it. I couldn’t wait to watch the movie and I loved it, it didn’t disappointment it and I cried again in the cinema. Its definitely one of my favourite books. Have you read the second one? Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove Laura x
Ah I have GOT to read this book! I’ve had it on my shelf for ages but my reading time is shocking these days (er, hi there all consuming blog). I have a think about reading books before watching the films so I’ll see how fast I can chug it down! #DreamTeam
I absolutely LOVE this book. I first read it when I was pregnant with Little Button and spent my journey’s traveling to and from work on the London Underground laughing out loud or sobbing my heart out… much to the discomfort of fellow commuters. I really want to see the movie, but waiting for it to come out on itunes so I can watch it at home with my box of tissues.
I can’t wait. Loved watching your vlog, and catching a glimpse of your girlie night out. Brilliant. Thank you for linking up to the #DreamTeam x
