As a mum I want to see my kids happy and healthy, that’s just natural. April turned 9 just before we moved into the new house, but she was really keen to wait and have her birthday party once we got in the house, so of course wanting my child to be happy . . . I said yes. Now maybe that is a little crazy, I mean who invites 15 nine year old girls into a brand new house for an all day party and serves cupcakes covered in sprinkles, and party pies with tomato sauce!? Me that’s who!
My saving grace was the beautiful weather, the sun was shining and with a backyard that has a cute dog and 6 mini lop bunny rabbits they girls were more than happy to spend most of the day playing outdoors. My new expensive rug that for some reason I placed under the dining table actually survived!! (I could have only blamed myself if it hadn’t!)
It was a fabulous day, my daughter is so lucky to have really lovely friends. The party also involved a sleepover, which was loads of fun, but didn’t involve enough sleep (well for me anyway). April felt very special and that makes me very happy!
After we waved the last friend off at 1pm Sunday the house felt very silent. Adam had gone off to a friends birthday party with his Dad, (Steve’s first time taking one of our children to a party. I got a few messages about how noisy it was, and some cute photos.) Aspen decided to bake, April enjoyed her new arts and crafts she had gotten as gifts, and a girlfriend dropped by for a quick coffee.
The weekend was awesome, but I must say the quiet was a welcome relief. I have cleaned, and vacuumed enough to last me a lifetime, but I am set to do it all over again next weekend when Aspen has her “at home” party! Yes call me the “crazy lady”!
I think even Holly-Rose was exhausted.
What did you get up to over the weekend?
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx

At home parties are exhausting. However, those are the ones my kids like best. With twins – a girl and a boy – things get completely chaotic at birthdays. I can just about survive a few hours. You are a supermom to have taken on a sleepover too.
chaotic is a great word for it! Thanks for stopping by!
Kinda glad those days are over for me – I remember them all too well! 😉
Our kids are all getting a little too old for bigish parties and while we still like to have a couple of their mates over, generally that is quite enough. I do miss little kids parties, while noisy, they were so much fun! We had a very quiet weekend while I rested after a health scare, was so nice for a change xx
I could use a quiet weekend right now too, been so busy since we moved. I hope all is OK with your health, take care xx
Looks like she has had a wonderful birthday even if its been a bit chaotic. Hope you can get some rest now and put your feet up. Gorgeous photos particularly of your girl surrounded by pink gift bags and pressies. #PointShoot
oh thank you so much
Oh my gosh, you are a brave brave lady! An all day party, sleep over and all in a brand new house?! WOW! Lovely photos from the day, love the table layout. Happy Birthday to April! #pointshoot
oh thank you, not sure if I am brave or totally nuts!
It looks and sounds like she had fun (the cakes looked fab) and I don’t think you are crazy, but mainly cos I did a similar thing for my daughters birthday and survived so it doesn’t seem too bad now!! 😂 (Next weekend we have a joint class party of 40 6 year olds in a soft play, now that seems crazy!!)
