Had someone said to me 2 years ago I would be a blogger I would have looked at them very strangely, the reason being I had never even heard of a blog! I had never read one, and I had no idea what was involved in being a blogger.

In October 2014 I finally heard of blogging, I met a lovely woman at my son’s kinder who was a book reviewer and had her own blog, when she spoke about it she just came to life before my eyes. After coffee with a good friend and a look on good old Google, I looked up how to start a blog, and on November 5th 2014 I started one! I still had not read a blog, I knew nothing about social media I hadn’t even ever had a Facebook account! So for me this was a massive, and slightly crazy step, yet somehow I knew this was something I really wanted, or even ‘needed’ to do for myself. I knew I had to write, I really ‘had’ to, and by creating a blog I was creating a space where I could write and where I could be myself.

It may have been a better idea to get to know more about blogging before I started, and since starting mine I have read lots of advice on starting a blog and I realise I really did it in a strange way. But even if I didn’t go about it the right way I have no regrets. Blogging for me was always about ‘writing’ and about being genuine, and following my passion and that is what I have always done. If I was to advise anyone who was thinking of starting a blog I would say read some before you start and set up your social media before you start too. But in saying that it really hasn’t held me back by not following that advice, and I wonder if maybe I would have been so intimidated by some of the talented bloggers out there that I would have been too scared to start mine? I am after all my own worst critic! But I am becoming more confident in myself and although I am still amazed by how many people subscribe to my blog I am starting to realise that I have something to offer as a writer and as a blogger.

I may not have have started my blog in the so called ‘correct way’, but I love my little part of the world wide web, I love reflecting, I love sharing my passion for writing with you, and I will always be immensely grateful to everyone who reads my blog. So yes two years ago I would have looked at you and wondered ‘what is a blog?” And if you had have told me I would be on Youtube I would have thought that was even stranger, but sometimes life is surprising and sometimes I still surprise myself by getting out of my comfort zone. And truth be told I am glad I do!

So here is my latest Vlog on Youtube, all about being a blogger and answering some questions from the bloggers tag. Enjoy! And thanks for all your support xx
