Religion is not something I usually write about on my blog, I guess because for me my belief is that I accept everyone equally. To me it doesn’t matter what religion you were baptised into, what colour your skin is, or what country you were born in, to me it is the person that you are. The way you treat the earth, people, animals and the kindness in your heart, that is what matters to me. I am not quick to judge someone, and I view people and situations with an open mind and heart.

Religion is something very personal, it is a choice we can only make alone, we choose what we believe. For my mum this weekend she made that choice, she chose to be Baptised. She believes she was most likely baptised as a child, but with no one to confirm it she wasn’t sure, so she decided she was ready to make that choice for herself.

I won’t go into great detail, but my mum had a very hard life as a child and this caused her to grow up not believing she was truly worthy of love and acceptance. She shy’s away from any sort of spotlight or focus on herself. But this weekend it was her time to be noticed and her time to finally accept that she is worthy of good things, of love and of acceptance. It was a massive step for her personally and I am proud of her for taking that step towards learning to love who she is.

It is not always easy to love ourselves, or feel like we are worthy of good things, but the truth is we are.
