Why is is so difficult to talk about ourselves? Well then again I have meet many people who find it really easy to talk about themselves. Some people annoying so! It’s great to have self confidence and to know you are an interesting person that has wonderful things to share, but there is a point where some people just go on and on. One of my girlfriends is so good at telling stories about her daily escapades and they are always so interesting and funny, I envy her, she is just such a natural at entertaining a crowd, yet she is so cool, she doesn’t even realise how awesome she is. Other people need to be poked and prodded and practically tortured into speaking about themselves. They just don’t realise how amazing they are, it’s sad, I just want them to gain some confidence. I guess the world needs all personalities to make it work.
I figure I am somewhere in between, I write a blog where I talk about my life and thoughts so I guess I’m not extremely introverted, but I still can’t believe people actually read what I write. I don’t feel that interesting. I figure it is just that what I write is what other people can relate to. We are all so different yet many of us share similar insecurities, values, humour and we share issues with our lives or our kids.
So when todays Friday Reflection prompt encouraged me to share 7 things about myself, I questioned if I could actually do it! Yet in actual fact I share things about myself with you everyday, well every other day. I looked at the other Friday Reflections prompts, these where some other options . . . I could share my favourite wardrobe item? But I couldn’t pick one. I could choose to share 3 photos of me over my lifetime? But being in temporary accommodation whilst our house gets built means photos are packed up. Hmm that leaves the book review that left a huge impact on my life? But that felt too heavy for today.
So 7 things it is! If I could only think of one right now I would be happy!
- OK well there is one, I’m indecisive, like really indecisive, and amazingly I am married to an indecisive man! We wonder how decisions get made! How did we choose which house to build, where to send our children to school, how did he ever decide to propose?
- Which leads me to number two. I lead with my gut. If a decision has to be made, it is made with my heart! When something feels right, it just feels right, and then I go for it!
- I’ve written a book! But I’m have been so busy lately that I haven’t gotten through my editing yet, it is something I keep putting off. Not sure why, maybe it’s just not the right time?
- I am obsessed with interior design. Love it, love putting things together. And especially lately with our new house being built I am full of ideas, if only I had a larger budget! I also have way too many ideas, so yes I will be indecisive for a while longer.
- I want to rescue every animal known to man kind! My husband has banned me from looking at rescue sites! But seriously how could I have resisted this face? And yes she is one of a few! Her name is Avari, and the kids have nicknamed her Fluffy Pants.
- I am the youngest of 4 children. I have 2 brothers and a sister. My sister and I have completely different taste in many things, including perfume as we discovered after shopping last week. We tried just about the whole department store of fragrances and only agreed on one that we both liked! Yet despite our differences, we are also two peas in a pod, we get along like best friends and can’t stop giggling when we are together. And no one can tell our voices apart on the phone including her own son who happily chatted to me last week thinking I was his mum.
- I am completely nutty! And when it comes to my siblings and parents they wonder where I came from. But I know I am not alone in my nutty ways! I sing all the time, I dance around in my underwear, I do pretend dog voices so that my dog can chat to my children, I even pretend their teddy bears can talk. I come out with really weird things and sometimes I am a complete scatter brain (but you trade your brain for babies don’t you?) Please reassure me I am not alone in my quirks? Someone else out there makes their kids teddy bears talk in weird voices right?
So there you have it, 7 things you may or may not have already known about me. Tell me something about you so I don’t feel so nutty. And remember . . .
Or feel free to comment on one of the other prompts. Tell me what your favourite book is, or your favourite wardrobe item. Love to hear from you in my comment section below, or tweet me @macglanville or join me on Facebook.

I’m with you Mackenzie I don’t really like talking about myself and I really struggled with this topic. I wanted to do it though to push myself. I love that you are ‘nutty’ and yes I talk through my grandson’s toys to him, plus I sing and dance around him (while no one is looking of course). I’m glad I know you a little more after reading your post. #FridayReflections
oh thanks for making me feel a little more normal Sue! I’m off to read your post now xx
Oh I loved learning more about you! This was lovely! I make my kids’ teddy bears talk in weird voices too. They have a whole elaborate universe going on with their own lives and daily routines. Fluffy Pants is just gorgeous! And congratulations on the book. What an amazing achievement. #FridayReflections
I am feeling better the more I hear other people tell me that they too make weird voices appear from teddy bears. Thanks for the comment about finishing my book, it was a long time coming and felt great to finish, like I said though editing is my next big task.
It’s nice to see another person who randomly sings and dances – my poor kids have been exposed to that all their lives (I think they were relieved when they were old enough to leave home!)
haha, love it! Mine will probably be relieved too lol
Oh, my heavens! Your cat has the sweetest face and I love her hairy ears! Too cute! And that nickname! LOL! Pretty good stuff!
PS Congrats on the book. That’s quite an accomplishment! Have a great weekend.
Thank you so much! Yes Fluffy Pants is very cute, she is quite funny too, and loves affection and really loves following our dog lol
Mackenzie, it’s wonderful to get to know a bit more about you. The older I get, the more I know I need to listen – and lead – with my gut. When I don’t, I usually regret it. Glad we have that in common!
glad you are listening to your gut and logging this week, it was an awesome post!
wow..!! It was wonderful reading about you.. I am too very indecisive and my husband, more indecisive than me..!! I have no idea how do we work out our decisions!! My sister and I are completely opposites but we both are bestest friends in the world..!!!
