In fantasy land we may have a really tidy home, we may even have a colour coordinated dressing room and pantry complete with labels on everything. Of course in our car there would be no rubbish hiding under the seat, and if you opened up the linen cupboard you would only find perfectly ironed and folded sheets, again colour coordinated! And in fantasy land we all have a unicorn right?
But in reality if you were to peek inside many homes on your street this isn’t what you would find. Not everyone has a pantry like Kim Kardashian. And we don’t all have unicorns either. At least I don’t! Although I am sure my 9 year old thinks one will appear one day in our backyard.
I don’t have a house cleaner or a cook, well unless I count the beautiful girl who looks back at me from the mirror (oh hang on that’s me). And I certainly don’t have someone who comes in to organise my cupboards. But that’s OK I do what I can do, and although I can’t afford a housecleaner I do my best and most people who pop in will find a pretty clean and organised (enough) home. But I am not ‘perfect’, look hard enough, (or to be honest not that hard) and I am sure you will find some dust I’ve missed, or some doggy footprints by the door, and my long dark hair on the bathroom floor, but this is my home, this is where my family lives, (and our endless list of pets). It is where we rush out the front door each morning, where we laugh, we cry, we curl up with our dog after a hard day. It’s where life happens, where family comes first, and where I am happy to come home to after an exhausting day.
Life is not meant to be lived in fantasy land, but is is meant to be lived fully! So if you feel guilty today because you didn’t do the ironing, or your pantry looks like a disorganised mess, don’t! Instead make time to hug your children, or your pets, read that book you’ve been wanting too, or spend time snuggling with your partner. I love a clean home, and I always feel more relaxed when I am somewhat organised, but when I lay my head on my pillow at night I feel happier knowing I made time for the people who matter to me most and that my family feel loved.
Thanks for joining me, love Mac xx

Having just spent the last half hour mopping off spilt condensed milk I know what you mean when you talk about fantasy land. Sigh! All the while I’ve been trying to focus on the cookies the twins made before the spill! Believe me it’s hard! But you’re right – there are things more important than a scrubbed-clean house.
oh no what a disaster! At least you can see the positives and baking is always worth it in the end when you enjoy the yummy treats x
Haha! Love the quote Mac! I used to love unicorns so much as I kid that at times I thought I was delusional, LOL! Popping over from #candidcuddles
Love this hun – life is too short to stress over these things. Although I have to admit, I’d love a unicorn 😉 xx #candidcuddles #mg
This is awesome!! #candidcuddles
