Have you heard of ‘Earthing’? If not then perhaps you have heard people talking about being grounded?
So what exactly is earthing? Well put simply it is about connecting to the earth, have you ever noticed that you feel more relaxed when you kick off your shoes and feel the grass beneath your feet, or between your toes? Perhaps you have noticed that when you walk on the sand barefoot you feel more connected with nature? Or maybe you have simply noticed how happy children seem to be when not restricted by shoes and they are running barefoot across the lawn, or climbing on rocks with no shoes? This is all about connecting with the earth and essentially recharging your batteries.
The earth is full of natural energy and the benefits of connecting to the earth can include reduced inflammation, increase energy, decease pain, help us to sleep better, reduce jet lag, have better blood flow, reduce headaches and tension, boost your mood, reduce healing times, and even help reduce menstrual pain, or hormonal imbalance. Sounds great yes? So how do we make this happen?
Kick off your shoes! And of course your socks too.
Find a patch of grass, sand, rocks or dirt and start walking. Feel the earth beneath your feet, even sitting or laying down on the earth can help. Relax, play, walk and just enjoy. Try to spend up to 30 minutes per day if possible and let me know if you begin to feel the benefits!

I hadn’t really stopped to think about the earth, or proximity to it, before I read your post. But, you’re right, it does feel better, more relaxing, to walk on grass or on the beach in bare feet! Thanks! #coolmumclub
We do this all the time in the house and garden .. it just feels so lovely being barefooted!!
Oh I used to love the feel of the grass beneath my feet, it really does make you feel so much better x

Just asked my teenage daughter to walk with me across the park to the supermarket … no chance. Hard to get her to touch the floor in the mornings during the holidays, not to mind the earth! Oh well, we can but try! #ablogginggoodtime
I try to do this regularly as I find it really helpful. 🙂 You’re right, it does make you feel more grounded
When I’m not at work I’m barefoot. Love it #ablogginggoodtime
Love it! #ablogginggoodtime
Was not aware of the term but guessed what it meant and you know I have not done this for years but wil tomorrow as we live in the most beautiful grounds so no reason to not make the most of them whilst we are custodians of them. Thank you. #Ablogginggoodtime
Oooh I love this Mac! It actually goes really well with my recent Insta post showing a pic capturing the moment I encouraged some ‘tweens’ to do just this! I hadn’t heard of the term earthing before but it is just perfect! #ablogginggoodtime xx
Ah so that’s why my youngest keeps throwing away her sandals! #ablogginggoodtime
This is so very true. I can’t wait to get on that sand when we go on holiday. Thanks for joining the #DreamTeam
I have read about earthing before – so many benefits. I love being barefoot! #ablogginggoodtime
One of the reasons I hardly ever where shoes outside at home. It does make me feel better

Yes, I’ve experienced it, but it’s been too long since I did this. Thanks for the reminder, Mac.
