Are you passionate about the life you are living? Do you wake with enthusiasm? Do you feel like you are living true to who you are?
If the answer is yes, then fabulous! But if the answer is no then it is time to ask yourself;
- What are you waiting for?
- What is holding you back?
I recently uploaded this image to my Instagram Feed @macglanville
and wrote;
“This speaks volumes to me. Last weekend I celebrated my birthday with amazing women, and during my speech I touched upon how 10 years ago I wasn’t fulfilled, in fact I felt a sense of disappointment with where I was at in my life. I think in hindsight I was putting way to much pressure on myself, it’s what many of us do.
But I knew that I wanted more, I just wasn’t sure where to find it. In 2014 I came close to rock bottom. I was teary and stressed all the time. Despite a wonderful marriage and children who are the best thing in my life I was lacking passion. I had to listen to myself. I had to slow down! I had to create a life I was going to be passionate about! So I did and I continue to do so!
You can too! No matter your age, financial status or where you’re at, you can create a wonderful life!! Fight for it, give it your all! Never give up on your passions!”
I have decided to share it here as I know that many of you who follow my blog may not be on Instagram and may not have seen this post. I wanted to share it as I think so many of us are still not living a life that we feel passionate about. And helping people live a life they are passionate about is important to me.
I was given the book as a birthday gift from a beautiful friend who is one of the kindest people I know, the book is called “Coco Chanel. An Illustrated World Of A Fashion Icon” by Megan Hess.
here is an image of the front cover
It’s a really gorgeous book, here is a little clip I found on Youtube.
It is so easy to get caught up in our every day routine, running around and being everything to everyone and forget to take the time to think about what we need as an individual in order to be happy and to feel passionate about our own lives. I think when we become a parent this becomes even more difficult, time we once had to ourselves becomes all about these little people who need so much from us. We begin to feel selfish when we take time out for ourselves, but we shouldn’t. We need to take care of ourselves, we need to make time for ourselves as an individual a priority.
When I started to look after myself and explore what it was that I needed to live authentically I opened up a whole new world not only to myself, but to those around me. I watched my husband begin to make time for himself, I watched my children explore new possibilities and even my own mother has started believing that she deserves to follow her dreams and learn to finally love and accept herself in her late 60’s.
This is your life, it is your canvas to paint, so paint it for yourself, splash on your colour! If you are not happy with how your life is going then change it. Create a life that makes you proud, that fills you with excitement and a life where you feel fulfilled. Stop living in a way that is about giving all of yourself to others and leaving nothing left for yourself.
It is not selfish to be happy, to live true to your values and passions, when you share the true you with the world you are giving the world hope, inspiration and creating the kind of world that you would want your children to live in.
Here are a few of my favourite quotes by Coco Chanel
Remember this is your life, this is your chance to shine. Be authentic, be who you want to be, dream big and work hard to follow your true path.
This is it, this is your moment, don’t hold back
Create a life you can be passionate about living
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx

Yet again a lovely and inspiring post Mackenzie. It rings so true for so many, I think we can just get stuck in the same routine and forget that our dreams and ambitions exists. This is my problem my life passions are my children but my dreams and goals I just don’t have enough hours in the day for. They are on hold until all children are at school. Maybe then I will achieve them. #KCACOLS
I had a similar kind of moment really – rushing into work every day and packing the kids into childcare . What’s it all for ?? Hence why I started blogging – I have lots of ideas so hopefully I can make a success of it ! Thanks for this inspirational post #kcacols
I love this positive and inspriring post! We are in control of our lives and we have to get out there and create the life that we want to live! 🙂 #KCACOLS
Hi Mackenzie, we only get one shot at life, so we have to live it the way we want to that way we cannot blame anyone else for our discontentment. It is something I’ve always believed, which is probably why we don’t have a lot, but we are content with what we have got. My biggest fear is that one day it will all change and we will no longer be able to live the simple life that makes us happy.
xx
I like this very much. I think many people do think its selfish to take time for yourself and do what makes you happy. But in doing that (usually), it doesn’t hurt anyone, in fact it usually makes you better and happier to be around. So, I hope people listen and pay attention to this post, as it is very true.

I love Coco Chanel and these quotes are great. This kind of sums up how I feel about blogging too. If I want to write, I have to actually do it and try to make a success of it. #KCACOLS
Thank you SO much for this!!! I really need it right now. You’ve inspired me…. And well done you for making yourself happy! Love your blog X

This is such an inspiring post, I love every quote in this. It can be so easy to lose track and let life bog you down. This post is great for giving us the kick up the bum we sometimes need to get on track!

I love your posts. So many people seem to stagnate in jobs that they aren’t passionate about just to pay the bills. #AnythingGoes
it can be hard to read out of that cycle when we have families to look after and bills to pay, but we have to strive to be happier and find a way to be passionate about our lives
I have just made a huge change in order to try to make my life more mine! Let’s hope I can make a positive change. This was a really interesting read. Thanks so much for linking up with #KCACOLS. We hope you come back again next week.
sounds exciting, good luck xoxo
This post is right up my street Hun! I absolutely 100% agree with everything that you say! I am becoming much better at finding time for me and I am so much happier because of that. It is certainly not selfish it is essential for your well being. Loved this post and I never realised that Coco Channel was so inspirational. I’m off to explore more of her quotes. #DreamTeam
Yes I know she really was quite amazing
I totally agree, it is even more difficult as a mother and wife to put yourself first, but if you don’t take some time for you and what you want to do it will eventually catch up with you. Thank you for the post and love the quotes! #AnythingGoes
glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting xo
A very inspiring post, sometimes the trouble is working out what you would rather be doing, But I guess part of the fun is finding that out :0)
#DreamTeam
it can be difficult, but I think deep down we know and sometimes we just have to listen to our gut
Hi Mackenzie!
What an inspiring post!! Coco channel was way ahead of her time and so inspirational! You are absolutely right that once we become parent, being passionate becomes really difficult. However, for our well being, it’s important to protect and keep our passion alive! Loved the post:-)

oh thank you honey. Yes she is so amazing xo
I love your saying about life being your canvas. You’re right, we need to paint our own lives more instead of letting others paint them for us. There are so many different ways to be successful. Sometimes its about being happy in what you do that defines success. I’ve learned lots since doing my blog and working part-time. #dreamteam Enjoy Lucky Things x Sunita
Thanks for such a great comment, it is so true it is all about how we define success xx
Yes, I think it’s important to make space for our passions. It’s easy to feel we’re being selfish by putting our needs first sometimes, but the way I see it we’re also helping our children – if they see us finding time for our passions in life, they will find it easier to find theirs and so live a more fulfilling life. Thanks for sharing. #KCACOLS
I totally agree, I feel I am showing them that life is about finding joy, and sharing it xo
Really inspiring and so true! Only we can change our lives. You’re right that after motherhood especially, we need to find more time for ourselves. Thanks for putting it so positively! #TwinklyTuesday X
Totally agree with you, I have created my life’s path, I’ve always been one for telling my friends when they are unhappy that you can choose where you want your life to go, you just got to make it happen! xx
#twinklytuesday
Your post has such a strong inspiring message. I love it! It’s so easy to get trapped into the must do’s of the day and forget about the things that make you sparkle. But those things are what makes you, you. Brilliant. Thank you for linking up to the #DreamTeam xx
Such an inspiring post and exactly what I needed today! xx #bigpinklink
It can be hard to change your life or even see how it might be possible when you’re inside it but I do think it’s good to try to assess how things are going and make changes if you realise things aren’t going the way you’d like.
#bigpinklink
A really interesting and inspiring post! Thanks for sharing it has definitely given me something to think about! #bigpinklink

Excellent post and so very true. I think I am a large part of the way there creating a life I am passionate about. We’ve had a lot of upheaval over the past five years so there has been a lot to get used to. It is so true that you get caught up in the whole parenting thing and forget about yourself. Your post definitely reminds me to keep going (and I love Coco Chanel quotes, I often use them in my day job!)
Keep the passion 🙂

Absolutely beautiful quotes and words – so so true as well. I think it’s easy to just get on with life and let yourself be lost, but it’s so important to do things you love. Blogging is my passion and something I do for me – I’m so glad I started xx
