“What I have learned about Autism…

Well for one thing, there is still a lot of misinformation out there. Theories that people still cling to despite evidence to the contrary. There are still disbelievers as well. But that’s why Autism Awareness is so important.

I learned that when you meet one person with Autism, then you have met ONE person with Autism.

They are human beings just like the rest of us. And just like the rest of us, they are all different. Yes, they share some similar characteristics but one is not defined by the next.”

The above paragraphs are taken from the Blog The MK Journey, a blog written by a wonderful women Michelle, a mother, an aspiring author, a mental health advocate and so much more, a blogger I truly admire. Michelle is my featured blogger for this week, I hope you will all take the time to head over to her post “Autism Awareness Night: My son’s journey with Autism.” I was telling Michelle in the comments that my nine year old was talking with me the other day about Autism and I truly think as parents, grandparents, care givers, we should be educating ourselves and our children about Autism, so I am very grateful to Michelle for helping us understand Autism a little better.
