On our last night in Tasmania we were staying at the stunning Port Masters Lodgings and we noticed a gorgeous building in the distance. As keen photographers both hubby and I said we should go and photograph it. We set off for the short walk (1 minute) and as we got closer we noticed it was an old rectory that had been converted into a fab cafe. It was just on their closing time and so we went in to take a peek as it looked so inviting. The first thing we noticed were the delicious looking muffins that Trudi told us were freshly baked each morning. We knew straight away we could not leave Tasmania without experiencing the delights Trudi had on offer at the Rectory Cafe! We promised we would be back in the morning to enjoy a hearty and delicious breakfast before boarding the Spirit of Tasmania back to Melbourne. Adam was super excited after checking out the breakfast menu and seeing pancakes!
We woke up both sad to be leaving Tasmania as we had totally fallen in love with all the amazing places, the breathtaking scenery, the history, the friendly people and the gorgeous art galleries, but also excited to be heading back home to see family, friends and our gorgeous pets. But mostly we couldn’t wait to get back to the Rectory Cafe for breakfast, I think I was dreaming of those muffins.
The Rectory Cafe is located only a one minute walk away from where you board the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry so it was perfect for us, 71 Wright St, East Devonport TAS 7310.
Steve was stressed about taking the time out for breakfast, but as Trudi had promised our breakfast was served so promptly that we had plenty of time to sit and relax in the gorgeous private dining room we were seated in. Besides once Steve saw his bacon and egg croissants in front of him he was a happy man! I also had the Croissants and oh my gosh it was really the best bacon and egg breakfast I have ever had! The croissants were so buttery and fresh, I have eaten a lot of croissants in my time and these were top of my list.
The coffee was also delicious and it was great to start off a long day with a delicious and filling breakfast.
Adam ordered the pancakes that he had been talking about all morning and an ice chocolate. Trudi snuck in a little extra chocolate for him so he felt extra special.
The girls both couldn’t resist ordering the muffins and some hot chocolates. Of course I had to pinch a taste of the muffins and yes they are as good as they look, well better actually.
The staff and atmosphere made it more than just a yummy breakfast, they made it a happy and welcoming place to be. We were on the Ferry with plenty of time to spare just as Trudi had promised. If you are looking for a yummy place to eat whilst in Davenport I totally recommend stopping in and having a meal, or at least grabbing a coffee and muffin to take away.
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx
Thank you to Trudi and staff at the Rectory Cafe for the delicious breakfast in return for my honest review. All photographs taken by Mackenzie and Steven Glanville.

A post, which makes me want to go to Tasmania and the Rectory Cafe. You had my mouthwatering as breakfast is my favourite meal.
Oh you have convinced me Mackenzie that Tassie must remain on my ‘must visit’ list. I’ve enjoyed following your travels and seeing the happiness on your children’s faces. Thanks for sharing your journey with us and I love the photos (well done to hubby or you? )
xx
oh thanks honey, yes it is simply beautiful there and so different to the rest of Australia. Great walks too! Hubby and I want to do more walks if we can go without the kids at some point, a few years away yet, but there is so much there I still want to explore. Stop and say hi in Melbourne before you go xx
