Hopefully now everyone has recovered from the busy times over Christmas, and the partying over the new year, or sleeping over new years depending on your preference. All the resolutions have been made, possibly broken, or maybe you are in full swing of becoming the new you or giving up that bad habit you promised to ditch this year. Maybe like me you didn’t make a resolution, you are just determined to embrace everyday with the best attitude you can muster. Whichever way you’ve decided to go I wish you luck. There is no going back! 2016 is here, so it is time to embrace it and enjoy it.

Need a little inspiration? Me too, who doesn’t?
One thing I love to do is keep little inspirational quotes around me. My favourite coffee mug has a quote on it and I use it each day when I make “a little me time moment” for me and my friend named coffee!
I also have a few framed quotes around the house. I like to keep one near the front door so I see it as I enter or leave the house and also one in my kitchen to remind me to take a moment and appreciate life’s little offerings.
I like to write my own quotes too, jot them down and keep them to remind me of how important it is to fight for who we are, fight for our passions and always be true to our core values.
Tweet me: “Fight for who you are, fight for your passions & always be true to your core values.”
My advice to you would be this, don’t be too hard on yourself, be your greatest friend, not your own worst enemy. Treat yourself the way you would treat someone you love, someone who you admire and respect. Hold yourself accountable for bad choices and turn those bad choices into positive changes. Don’t beat yourself up and don’t hang onto old baggage, admit you made a bad choice, a mistake, and after you’ve admitted it realise it is time to forgive yourself and move on! Write in on a piece of paper and then rip it up and throw it in the bin, say goodbye to past hurts and those bad choices and allow room for the light and love to enter. It really is like doing a clean out of a cupboard or draw. Once you throw out the crap you don’t need anymore you suddenly have room for all the new, fresh and pretty things! You deserve all those pretty and fresh things!
Tweet me: “Be who you know you want to be, & you are proud to be.”
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx

I am notoriously bad for being my worst enemy rather than my best friend. Its something i really need to work on this year. Happy new year to you Makenzie Xx #mg
happy new year and yes do it, be nice to you!
What a lovely way to start the New Year Mackenzie! We can be so hard on ourselves with high expectations and then we feel like a failure if we don’t live up to them. Your post made me want to be kinder to me. Does it sound strange that I felt this was a gentle post, warm and caring. Thank you xx
Oh thank you that is such a lovely comment Sue, much love xx
I love quotes, and I collect them in a journal I keep. You have some nice ones here. Happy New Year Mackenzie!
You sound like me, I love collecting them, they are such great reminders xx
Love the quotes! i can definitely do with some inspiration :p I didn’t make specific resolutions this year either I just tried to promise myself I would make 2016 a good one 🙂 x
I agree lets make it a good one!
I’m like you. I don’t make resolutions. I just make a committment to myself to do better, be better, and continue improving myself and my life. I am excited to get back into the linky! Thank you for being a great host!
oh thanks Michelle! Have a great year x
Happy New Year Mackenzie! It’s great to be back blogging again. I had 11 days off & am feeling refreshed & excited to get started again. You have some lovely quotes for us starting out 2016 on the right foot. Enjoy your holiday! I’m excited to follow your adventures on IG & Twitter. x
Thanks Becky, glad you are feeling refreshed xx
Very good advice. Happy New Year! x
Happy 2016 x
Thanks for sharing those words with us. They are very calming in a time of hysteria when people are trying to change over-night who they are and what they do. You made me look around my kitchen (which is where I am sat) and the only quote I can see is on my biscuit barrel which says “One biscuit per person*” *except for me. Guess I will have to ensure I police that rule more forcibly in 2016 🙂
it’s always hard to stop at one biscuit!
Lovely post with great advice… so inspiring! I love your quotes too, can’t help but click and tweet it. Hope you’ll have a lovely 2016 too! #mg

I love the being kind to yourself part!! We all need to remember that more often. I think as women, we are much too hard on ourselves. Moving forward with kindness and gratitude is important. Happy New Year Mac xx
