In my previous post “see the vision and make it happen” I wrote about how important it is to follow your dreams, and one tool that I believe can help you make your dreams a reality is by creating a vision board.
Quite simply put, a vision board works on the laws of attraction. The law of attraction is a philosophical term that is based upon what you put out into the universe is what you will receive back.
If you project positive thoughts and believe you deserve good things, then the universe will listen and those good things will come your way.
It all sounds very mythical, but if you think about it you will see how it works. For example, if I had believed I wasn’t good enough, smart enough, pretty enough to go on a date with my now husband all those years ago, I would have projected that towards him, I would have shyed away and not put myself out there to get to know him. But because I believed I deserved love and respect, and I believed I was good enough for him I chatted to him, flirted with him, and by the end of a lovely evening we were holding hands. He proposed just 7 months latter.
The first and most important step to getting what you want in life is believing you deserve good things, believing it deep down. If this is something you struggle with read this before going on with this post.
So we know the principal upon which a vision board works, but what is it and how do we create one?
A vision board is a board upon which you can display ideas and dreams. You use it to attach images, drawings, quotes, thoughts, magazine cut outs, photographs, or anything that inspires you to make your dreams a reality. It is a space to be creative and it is all about your dreams. The things you choose to display are there to motivate you and keep you on track so you can manifest the life you truly want. It is a collage of creativity.
The idea is to surround yourself with images that reflect the thing you are desiring. If it is a holiday then you fill your board with images of where you want to go. If it is a new home, then fill your board with images of the homes you love, or the areas you would love to live. Your images need to match you desires.
Lets get started!
You will firstly need a board. This can be made from any poster paper or even cardboard. You will also require something to attach your images with, you can use glue but this can make it difficult to move around or change images, so I suggest something like Bluetac. You can buy a cheap but pretty frame, remove the glass and pop your poster paper into the frame. This way it looks prettier than just a poster on your wall.
If you have a slightly larger budget for creating your vision board I highly recommend buying a board that you can use to pin your images to, like a cork board or one such a this one by Kiki K , Kiki K also have a great range of pins, string with pegs and images with fabulous motivational quotes on them. Look around at your local craft stores, or markets and you are likely to find some gorgeous quote cards, and gorgeous craft paper that you can write you favourite quotes on or draw images of your desires on.
You will also want to get your hands on as many old magazines as possible, ask friends to pass on magazines that they are throwing out, or check with your local newsagent if they are throwing out old stock.
Pause for a moment.
Take a moment, or as long as you need to think about what it is that is most important to you, what is your dream? What do you desire?
Time to create!
Once you have the tools you need, and a vision of what you desire, it is time to create. This is the fun part, this is where you can be as reserved or as wild as you wish. Look through your magazines and cut out anything that inspires you, go through any vision cards, quote cards that you have and pick out the ones that make you smile, or motivate you. Spread everything out and really get into it! This is your time to be creative. Put on some music, grab a glass of wine if you so desire and just immerse yourself in visualising your dream actually becoming a reality. You can draw on it, you can write words, there are no rules here.
My 11 year old just got her first board for Christmas, she has been desiring a mini lop bunny for the past year, on her board she has pinned drawings of bunnies and written the name she wants to call her bunny and pinned that on there too. She is putting it out there into the universe that she really wants this little bunny. I’ll keep you posted and let you know if her dream comes true.
Once you have created your board, it is time to hang it up. Choose a place that you will see it everyday. A great spot is in your bedroom, but there are again no rules, you can hang it in your bathroom, kitchen, near your front door so you see it everytime you come and go! Use it to motivate you and believe that you deserve good things!
Good Luck, have fun, be creative, and most of all believe you deserve your vision!

Oh fantastic! I’ve been waiting for this post. I love the idea of creating a vision board. I’m a very visual person & I think seeing my goals & positive things on the wall every day will help me a lot! I’m pinning for when I get time to make one. #BloggerClubUK x
